replacement power harness for 002R

Does anyone know why it is an act of Congress to get one of these now?

I had one go out on one of my 002R's and requested them to send one three days ago. I get a response yesterday stating I needed to call and pay for tech support.

I had one go out a year ago on my other unit and they just sent it out, no issues.

Why can they just send it out, it is a know problem with these. So irritating......

I was definately surprised and happy when they told me it was a free replacement.
But, yea, that was probably close to a year ago for me too. Wasn't that before the 003?

As far as I can remember it has always been a required call and you would only pay for the phone call not Tech Support.

Then again with the age of the 002/002R it would almost be that you have to pay for the harness since in theory it should have failed by now.

I think if I had a 002 that the harness failed on now, this late in the game I would probably hardwire it and call it a day.

Can't void the warranty, can't hurt the resale value, and would alleviate the problem.

My 002R is a "demo unit" from my local retailer and I we can't seem to get digidesign to transfer the ownership so I can register it.

Many times simply re-seating the connections several times will cut thru the oxidation and get you up and running. Just repeat every 6 months or so. 15 minutes of minor maintenance might go a long way.

If it was a demo unit it was never owned so there is o no ownership to transfer.
As a demo you should have still been able to register it normally.
Maybe they are calling it a demo but it was actually a return they used as a demo?

That's a great question. But I tried to register the serial number and it says someone else already has it registered. Oh well.... no biggie I guess.

I just got a second response from Digi that was much better. Apparently you can only get parts by calling in and not e-mail.

Kinda weird, but as long as it gets fixed, I'm happy.
