Default Getting a new HD2 system. What Apple is best?

Im planning on a HD2 with 2 192's as an initial PT setup.

Assuming I am running PT's newest software upgrade (6.9.2 it think), what are some recommendations for the optimal PowerMac performance.

On a G5, my goal was to have a dual 2.0 with 2 X 1G (2GB) of RAM and split 2 400G Harddrives. However, I want to get as close as I can to the $2000 mark. I though with HD that the cards took up the slack, so maybe you could fudge on some of the processor power (unlike LE), but perhaps you cant. I plan on using FW Drives for storage. I had alot of success running 20 track projects on LACIE drives.

Ive been running HD/TDM systems in other studios and I didnt know all of the specs. I know one studio was running mostly G4's with, I think 6.7 and 192/888's (48 track) and I recorded fine on them.

Gotta save some $$ somewhere.

Also, if you are looking at running a purely Digital PT station, is there a need for a 192 I/O versus a Digital 192 I/O if you are going to buy 3rd party A/D converters?

Thanks.

Check the compatibility documents on the Digi website.
Better yet, if you have a good PT dealer, ask them. My PT dealer got me as good a deal on the Mac as I could have gotten on my own. They even loaded the software and did all the configuration at no extra charge.

I use an HD3 and mostly TDM plugins and I don't even see the CPU meter. When I run Ivory, MMV and BFD, I get up to 25%. My system is a 2x2.5G and it is way more than enough, although just barely enough with my old LE system.

Apple's online store currently has Dual 2Gig G5s for $1,650.00 in the "Special Deals" section. Look for the red "Save" tag near the bottom of the page.
