Default 7.4 midi wait for note peaks

Can anyone help me figure this out. I'm running 7.4 on vista and its working well except for one little glitch. Im using BFD Drums and i have a groove set up. I click wait for midi note like i always used to do and i record my loop. When i go to playback the very first note is extremely loud and peaks on the volume. If i play it back 20 times it will happen about 15 times. The other 5 it plays back normally. Anyone have any ideas?
