Default Getting Audio from Helicopter Headset Mic

I'm heading to Tokyo to do some documentary work and one of our days involves a helicopter fly-around with Dialog. 2 Cameras, one doing aerials of the city and one shooting the interior of the copter. My first thought was to rig a lav to the headset mic (big potential for loud backgrounds and even distortion), but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about tapping the headset mic itself? Is this a standard adapter? 5-pin xlr to 3 pin or something?

Equipment list: 302 mixer, 416 with fuzzy, 2 radio mic's (Tram TR-50's), and 2 Beyerdynamic M58 sticks.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

in a pinch;

I've placed a lav in a spare helicopter headset, then taped the headset together to enclose the lav.
Works pretty good.

I've managed to borrow one of the intercom taps from a local film sound guy, and he suggested the same thing regarding the lav and a spare headset. I've got the extra channel on the mixer, so I might as well do both to cover my behind.

Thanks for the tips, now I need to prepare for my 16 hour flight to Tokyo.. ugh. haha.
