That was it! Thanks for reposting that suggestion. Somehow a bit of automation snuck in to my small template for PT v11 on an aux track! It was driving me nuts. Very appreciative of your help!

Yes- I think it was some volume automation that got written to an aux track. No idea how I wrote that in there. ?

As an alternative: I'm in the habit of setting my 'overview' scale how I like it, then saving it as the first zoom preset on the number 1 key (right-click). This way it's just one button press instead of using a modifier.
