Default Why I Am Disenchanted With The Dongle

I work in two cities, and if I forget to bring my dongle, I am screwed. I also have a Mac in both cities, and both Mac's are not just forgiving but happy to record with me. I am currently sitting in the one city, kicking myself for not remembering to bring the dongle yet if I go to the trouble of booting the Mac (which I really don't like), I can get on with my work. C'mon guys, get it together! We like you both and support you both equally, let's get rid of the need for a dongle! Where am I going wrong with this post?

What's wrong is, you are expecting someone else to solve your problem(no offense intended, but you, ie WE, all need to take responsibility for our own screw-ups....and I've made PLENTY). Its really no different than a mechanic forgetting his tools, or me going to tune a system and leaving my analyzer mic back at the studio. If you do a lot of travel, and you're a pro(hence its a business expense), then it might be a good investment to buy another set of assets(at least for the basics) and keep them on a second iLok that stays in your traveling gear, or is tethered to your rig in the second city. Remember, none of this would be needed if it were not for people that pirate software

Exactly, if a doctor makes a housecall and forgets her stethoscope, who's to blame? Just saying.

copy protection will never go away, unless 19th century cattle rustling laws are use on the violators

of all the methods iLok is the most stable in my experience:
custom dongles: conflicts and unwieldy
challenge/response: PITA when there is a failure of the MoBo, System drive, or want to move to a different rig
cloud: spotty net connection
thumb drive: mistaken identity and used for something else

Never forget your ilok, never misplace your ilok .

If you travel with your ilok - get ZDT and TLC from pace- cheap peace of mind

It's tough sometimes I agree, but if you forget your keys you can't start your car or unlock the door to your home...

How about thumb reader iloks? Or smartphone ilok apps?
Or 12hr license access for a small service fee?

It's a necessary evil I suppose, although I like the fact that I can pull my iLok out of my 'home" system. Plug it in to a macbook and get on a 18+ hour trip to KL, mix with all my plug-ins and software on that machine while en route. Then plug it in to my writing partners machine there and again have all my software and plug-ins licensed and available. Now some of my plug-ins licenses are on a USB key and I haven't run into any conflicts there (Plug Alliance and Waves). SmartPhone iLok app…. I could go for that too.

Question. Say you have ZDT + TLC for your iLok but want to cancel it. How is that done?
