No real issues for me.
Hi,
I feel for everyone who has a problem with 12.4-12.5 because I've been there on other releases and have vented on here more than once. While I haven't done any recording yet on 12.5 I have done a LOT of mixing on an album that we have had all of the tracks down. Other than the display lag (which only happens if I have a plugin open...completely smooth the rest of the time) I have had ZERO issues. No crashes, no spinning beach ball, no dae errors. As a matter of fact, it has been SO smooth that I don't save as much as I used to and I know somewhere it's going to come back and bite me. So I have to get back to the habit of saving every few edits. Granted I am only running about 20 tracks per song and it is all live music, no VI's, but I am using TONS of plugins. I am using AUXs/buses for sends/returns for verb, delay, etc. So while it's not video and it is not super complex it does meet my needs VERY well. I am using a 2012 MacBook Pro, 2 ProFire 2626's (which are fire wire 400), 1TB external Glyph drive (also fire wire 400), 1 TB Seagate drive for backup (also fire wire 400), all into a powered fire wire 400 hub. Latest version of OSX. If you want to know the exact MacBook Pro look at the Qualified Computers on Pro Tools 12 System requirements. Mid 2012 15" MacBookPro10,1 4-Core i7 'Ivy Bridge' 2.6 GHz. Just thought I would post something positive. Still would like my screen to not lag though. |

"Latest version of OSX" meaning El Capitan?

Re: No real issues for me.
I can also verify this. Everything works perfect for me other than the meter lag which, in all honesty, is starting to drive me nuts. Also, I use my hardware synths as external instruments mixed with a few VI's, and all is well. Not a lot of tracks though. I'm cloning my current install to a separate drive then wiping and trying 10.9.5 with 12.5 to see if I get no meter lag. I'd hold off if I new that AVID was releasing a fix within a month, but this plugin lag while open thing is horrible - especially with the latest McDSP plugs. I can always restore my clone if AVID releases a fix soon.

Re: No real issues for me.
Same here. We've been running 12.5 now for about a week on two rigs, and it seems to be working fine. One crash when trying to move a region, but that's it.

12.4 on an old iMac with 4 gig of ram on mountain lion. Full band sessions, lots of plugins - smooth as a baby's bum.
