using windows formatted drive
i have protools on both a pc and mac. i have asked this before and was told that i can record and playback directly on a windows formatted drive with my mac. last night, i actually tried this for the first time. i tried to open a session from a drive formatted fat32, was told i need to enable to drive for playback and record from the workspace. when i try changing this property, the computer tells me it is not a valid audio drive. what am i doing wrong. what is the best windows formatt to be compatible with mac? NTFS? FAT32?

Re: using windows formatted drive
NTFS is read-only on the Mac, and FAT32 is a really crappy filesystem.
If you are going to be doing a lot of work between a PC and a Mac, I very highly recommend getting a program for the PC called MacDrive by MediaFour. This lets Windows read and write to a Mac HFS+ formatted volume. And it is qualified for use with Pro Tools. I've been using it for a few years for Mac/PC sharing and it works like a champ |

Re: using windows formatted drive
That's not true anymore. Since version 6.0.8 this function has been enabled -- it now works as if HFS+ was a native filesystem:
http://www.mediafour.com/support/mac...dsupgrades.asp shows the version history. |
