Default track breaks

I appreciate all of the experience here on the forums...so here's my question...I want to take a long session, an audio book format that has continuous-play music or background under the vocal reading and break it into chapter/track breaks. I took the previous advice given to me about breaking it into regions and bouncing each region separately but when I do that, I get a noticable "glitch" in the music. I tried going from, say 1:00:000 to 2:00:000 and also accounting for the split by going from 1:00:001 to 2:00:000 and I still get a glitch (newbie here, this is my term for music that definitely jumps and is not smooth...I am also open to new terminology!!). I have not yet tried the advised software, Sony Architecht, Sound Forge, etc, as I am trying to do this low budget, but if I must invest, I will! (I do make sure that there is no gap between tracks. I pull these tracks into Windows Media Player and burn the disc.) Any way around this?

You need a more advanced editor for your CD to do this - the most cost effective professional solution for this I think is WaveLab Elements (Mac or PC:)

Thanks!! I will look into that program. Can the plug-ins that are available with it be used with pro tools?

No, the plug-ins are DX, not RTAS.

You can do all the audio processing in Pro Tools then bounce out - or export - a stereo interleaved file, bring that into CD Architect and then, IIRC, drop in your track markers and/or index markers.

Cheers,
