Default Pro Tools 10 Student vs. Institutions edition?

Apologies if it has been asked before but the search did not yield any results.

Is there a difference between the "Student" and "Institutions & Educators" boxed versions of Pro Tools 10? I am an educator and was attempting to order the edu version off of Amazon, they only have a "Student" version listed. Other sites such as Sweetwater have seperate editions for "Student" and "Institutions & Educators." As an educator would I be able to activate the Student version?

Thanks for the help!

Pretty sure the only difference is the pricing

Thanks for the reply. They are actually the same price; I would post the links but as a new member I am not allowed to post links. Surprised there isn't some sale support number that I can call to ask this question... If anyone knows, I'm still curious to get the answer.

Hello mbings.

Functionally, there is no difference between the Student or Institutional versions. There are actually 3 types of Pro Tools academic:

Student - For students currently enrolled in a qualified school
Teacher - Those instructing at a qualified school
Institutional - For schools who have internal systems that are used for teaching.

Both the Student and the Teacher versions will require proof of eligibility. You can find all information regarding eligibility here:

It wasn't a clear answer from AvidCS, so for those that may be curious, as an educator you can activate the "Student Edition." I have now successfully done this.

Last year it was that the student licence gave you four years of free upgrade, whereas the educators licence did not. I'm unsure if this is still the case.
