pops & clicks from automation control points?
here's a fun new glitch (among MANY) in PT10 HD... (running 10.3.7 on HDX)
mix day here and when i come back from lunch i start hearing little clicks and pops all over the place that sound like edits without crossfades. start checking tops and tails of clips/regions and seems assistant has done a nice job, it's all clean. lo and behold it's the control points in automation i wrote on plugins earlier making the clicks... and not from giant automated jumps in gain or anything obvious: they're coming from stuff like note changes and feedback times on delays and riding the input gain on a compressor plug etc. even stranger: it's not all the written control points, just some of them?? anyone else run into this yet? (never had anything like this bug on the TDM rig.) |

Re: pops & clicks from automation control points?
guess no one else has had this problem?
further info: it doesn't happen on all sessions. (just two in particular of an EP i'm finishing today.) still haven't found a solution for the 2 mixes in question, which i have to print tonight! plugs all up to date, have tried moving some plugs to the unused folder and then back, restarts, etc |

Re: pops & clicks from automation control points?
I always hear clicks when doing hard automation move. For example when selecting a region and doing a pan or level on my controller just on this region does cause little "hard to hear" glitches. I have to constantly draw a crossfade of one frame to avoid this. But I don't hear any pops. I hope this is solved in PT11.
Have you try to "save a copy as", including the audio file, on another hard drive. If it's only on your two last PT sessions, it could be it's a case of severe disk fragmentation combine with the automation.

Re: pops & clicks from automation control points?
hi golfer thanks for the tip, will try your idea of doing mini crossfades on the most audible ones. (some are buried in the full mix but can be heard on certain stem groups when soloed for example... CFs could possibly help.)
yes i did try a "save copy as" to rule out some weird aspect of the session file being corrupted, but problem persists. cheers man |

Re: pops & clicks from automation control points?
Just to be sure I was clear, you have to make a crossfade while you are in level view mode for level and pan view mode when crossfading pan for example. You just make a 1 or 2 frames selection where the automation was recorded and press "x" on you keyboard to make a crossfade and smooth out the automation.

Its time for you to trash your prefs. That solved this problem for me.
