That's the bottom line for me as well.
The original purpose of this forum was to give beginners a place to go to help them get up and running.

If we're required to use a 3rd party dongle, Avid should be more accommodating... not less.

Anyway, it sounds like you've got another failing iLok.
I've heard that flash drives, which are not unlike UBS dongles, can die a sudden death as well.

Even solid state drives are said to be prone to failure without warning.
I just may find out... built another Protools PC with a 120 gig SATA3 SSD as a system drive.
Dangerous... but fast, fast, fast!

I had to order a new ilok, GC didn't have the bigger capacity one.
I got it today, and I still have the problem.
So, i completely uninstalled and reinstalled pt...
Now im running again.

Whatever. Thanks Avid for not one person emailing or returning my calls.
Awesome. And yet, I still invest in your company because I dont want to take the time to learn something else...

Thumbs down Re: Avid. I demand a response.

That is why ilok sucks. You paid for your software and because someone else hacked it now yours doesn't work. Sorry my friend. You paid for a hassle, not to metion lost revenue while your recording system is down.

I've conceded I was a jerk a long time ago. Figured it was fairly common knowledge.
