Default Signal from CDs and Phono Preamps too high for Mbox 3?

Hi guys,

after 2-3 years of blissful PT8 times, I'm crawling bach here pleading for help. Is there anything I can do to record into Pro Tools (8, Mbox 3) when the signal coming in from the phono preamp, or any CD, is far too loud even with the input gain at its lowest? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Surely it can't be possible that the Mbox is incompatible with pre amps (or cds!!!).

Thanks in advance, and fingers crossed!!

Just discovered Pads. Problem sorted (unless someone tells me Pads reduce sound quality?) DOesn't seem to be the case though:)

For CD's, it would be better quality to just import the Wav file into Protools.

If you must record traditionally, then use the digital Spidf jacks.

CD players with digital outs are expensive, but there is a very cheap alternative: use a consumer DVD player (get a cheap one from Walmart). They all play CD's and they all have digital outs.

Well said^^^ I use Wavelab to rip audio from CD's, but even iTunes can do it if you go into the preferences and tell it to import as wave(without any compression).
