Default New To Pro Tools 8 M-Powered - Do I need Any Extras?

Hi All

I have been slowly getting into PT over the past few months,to be honest I was a bit scared of it at first, don't know why, anyway.

At the moment,I only have the Plug-ins and VST'S that come with the program so,my question is this.

Do I buy anything else yet,and if so,what?

I am mainly using backing tracks while learning, but Mastering plug-ins come to mind?

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Alan

Mastering is a job best left to mastering engineers. That being said, I recognize the Financial implications of that theory and can appreciate the need to get it sounding as good as possible. If you are just starting out in this I recommend the Ozone 4 mastering suite. It has a lot of very usable presets and also makes for a good learning tool.

Thanks Tom,I have been looking at that for a while now,I would be stuck with using the presets though, mastering is all black magic to me at the moment.

I shall get a 10 day demo and see how I go.

I would base my purchase on what my primary usage is going to be. Are you looking to produce/compose, mix or master using Protools?
