Default PT v.4.2.5 Windows NT

I've just installed Pro Tools v. 4.2.5 for Windows NT onto a box running Windows 2000 Professional.

When I try to start the Pro Tools App, it tries to start, but then says that no Pro Tools HARDWARE is installed on the computer. This is true.

I was hoping I could run Pro Tools on my PC just like I run Pro Tools Free on my Mac--that is, without any hardware. I want to do all my editing with a mouse and keyboard.

Does anyone think this is possible with v. 4.2.5 for Windows NT???

Ohh come,
There's PT5.0.1 Free for 98/ME (not 2k/xp/nt support).

This is the only no hardware based protools solution for PC.

In addition 4.2.5 won't run on w2k as it's designed for NT only.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Since w2k has the same OS base as NT (unlike w95, 98 and Me), I'd hoped the software would still work.

It won't work on anything (not even NT) without the proper hardware (tdm cards and an interface), and it won't work on Win2k even WITH the proper hardware.

If you just want to edit on a pc, your cheapest choices are to either create a partition with WinME/98SE on it and load Protools Free, or get an Mbox and upgrade to XP.
