Introduction:

The Digidesign ASIO Driver is a multichannel, multimedia sound driver that allows third-party audio programs which support the ASIO standard to record and play back through the following systems on Windows XP Professional or Home:

• <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Digi 001 with Pro Tools LE 5.3.1
• <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Mbox with Pro Tools LE 5.3.3 *
• <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">ToolBox & AudioMedia III with Pro Tools LE 5.3.1

* The version on the download page is newer than the one included with the Pro Tools LE 5.3.3 CD and download. All other systems did not include the ASIO driver on the Pro Tools CD or downloads.

The ASIO Driver can also be used as a stand-alone driver (without Pro Tools software installed), with Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools|24 MIX, Pro Tools|24, Digi 001, and AudioMedia III systems. Digi 002 and Mbox can only use the ASIO Driver if Pro Tools software is installed. For more information, see "Installing the ASIO Driver" below and in the included ASIO Driver Beta2 Read Me.

Full-duplex recording and playback of 24- and 16-bit audio are supported at sample rates supported by the hardware and ASIO program used.

hi - me again

So, after I yapped about how great the update was, I actually tried to install it...

I'm running TDM v5.3.1 on XP. The driver gave me an error message saying it didn't work with this version of ProTools and I had to install a newer one.

I uninstalled ProTools, then installed the ASIO driver, re-installed ProTools, and it seems to work.

I should know better - got a little over excited.

Embarassing.

oh well, still happy to see development on the Windows side of things

So does this mean we'll ever get a WAV driver for all our existing hardware and programs. I've been shut down for months since "investing" in ProTools HD [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]
