Until now Ive had to force quit Pro Tools about 98% of the time since upgrading to Monterey. I noticed that on the rare occasion that I didn't have to force quit Pro Tools the behavior of the Avid Control iPad screen was a little different when quitting Pro Tools and it made me curious.
No ipad or anything like that. Btw what I mean is I can quit Pro Tools normally, but after it goes away it pops up a forced quit window and I click "ignore"

I've been having issues since the upgrade, before it was running smoothly.
Running PT on a PC windows 10.
Since the update I've have issues with my Google Chrome crashing if Pro Tools is open.
Also, Pro tools just crashes for no apparent reason.
I was having issues with the update installation and the Plugins.
I need another update asap

it would help us help you if you post your computer's specs including RAM, processor, system type, exact windows version, etc..

Hey there

I created a case for this - 04775207 but as Tope recommended, specifications would be great to add to your profile.

Also, it's helpful to have crash logs and reports handy so when the techs ask, you can send them in. Here is how......

Pro Tools crash reports:

Pro Tools log files:

Hope that helps

We're also seeing more crashes at my company since upgrading to 2024.3. Typically PT quitting without any warning, no predictability and without any "PT quit unexpectedly" messages afterward. Most of us are going back to 2023.12.

Hi Eric! Please let me know what the company and the affected users are. We need to inform our team about these crashes so we can investigate and solve the issue asap. Thanks!

My apologies on behalf of Avid for not communicating this was going to happen prior and not adding to the Release Notes for 2024.3 either. Notice was sent to the product team to not do that in the future .....

During testing for the latest version of Pro Tools, Avid software development teams found that the old M-Audio keyboard driver (originally created to support 2 M-Audio keyboard controllers that have been out of support for over 10 years) was causing unwanted interactions with other control protocols such as EUCON and HUI. It became necessary to remove the driver in Pro Tools 2024.3 to preserve performance, stability, and functionality for EUCON and HUI-based controllers.

In the meantime, we recommend that users of third-party hardware that relied on the deprecated M-Audio driver to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to setup their device with Pro Tools software.

So with the introduction of MIDI FX support and expanded MIDI signal flow, Pro Tools 2024.3 focuses on MIDI workflow and demonstrates our commitment to ongoing enhancements of the MIDI capabilities in Pro Tools. We are also working closely with the MIDI association to embrace the latest standards and expand functionality in the near future.

Thanks....
Marianna
Is there a list of alternative products that can be purchased to work with Pro Tools moving forward? My primary uses are for the transport control when recording (makes it easier than using track pad or mouse) and as a means to record MIDI keys....I realize that this device is ten years old but it is still extremely useful,,,,,Im just looking for a reliable replacement...

UPDATE:

For those interested the loss of functionality is limited to the MIDI transport control. The Audio Keyboard is still able to control virtual instruments from the testing I have performed both pre and post upgrade. Here are two related and potentially helpful resources to consider the first one is the Keyboard shortcut reference for those wanting to use use the keyboard in place of a control surface or a MIDI controller replacement

https://resources.avid.com/SupportFi...uts_12.8.2.pdf

and the second is the MIDI programming guide to have the controller send the necessary MIDI signals for the transport among other things. Note I have not invested the time in setting up the MAudio interface as I opted for the more straightforward route of keyboard shortcuts

Good luck!

Steve
