I installed Yosemite on a back up flash drive OWC accelsior and installed 11.2 and it's been very solid with stock plugins. The great thing about 11 is seeing my 2010 12 core and the 12 virtual cores being used and the 32 gigs of ram getting tapped well beyond the old MT Lion 4 gig limit. It seems the software is finally using the full potential of the hardware. I set up a monster session over 100 audio tracks and a huge amount of virtual instruments like 50 and set the buffer to 32 and did some overdubs and wow the future looks bright. I have been stuck in PT 10 and MT lion as that is my working machine and have dated plugins that I will have to shell out a lot of money to get into 11 full time. I skipped Mavericks except on my test drive but I have to say Yosemite is nice and modern looking although I did not like some things at first like the red yellow and green folder dots, but when you switch back Mt Lion the poor cat looks old and tired. I will wait it out until Yosemite is approved by Avid and then I will bite the bullet and upgrade my plugins and let my 12 core Mac Pro rock like never before.

PT 11.1.2; I've been fine except for:

File->Open and File->Import->SessionData

do NOT give me dialog boxes to navigate to a file on my computer.

Nothing, but does not hang Pro Tools, it just ignores me.

Fun fact, working fine in PT 10.3.9.

What´s interesting and been a sweet surprise to me was that Pro Tools 11.2.1 does run without any problems
on my 2012 i5 2,5GHz MBP with Yosemite again.
It did NOT with Mavericks. There just have been issues like many had with i5 processors with PT11 and Mavericks.
Not so far with Yosemite actually.
Can´t say of course if this is generally happen or exclusively on my MBP here but nevertheless a nice surprise.

Cheers.

Default Yosemite came out today.

Yosemite seems to be better OS than Mavericks.

Just like Mountain Lion seems to be better OS than Lion.

And Snow Leopard seems to be better OS than Leopard.

+1
for sure it´s like that which on the other hand doesn´t mean that LE8 runs better
on Mountain Lion when it had stopped working properly with Lion before, right?
So to me it stays kinda positive surprise that PT11 has come back to work on this i5
MBP, I just would not have expected it getting any better after this "quite interesting"
i5/PT11/Mavericks experience and the fact that those Macs hardly will be getting just
"qualified" computers for future versions of Pro Tools again anymore.
So just saying.

FYI... 11.2.1 still works perfectly fine on my 2 MacPros (see my sig) with 10.10.1.

Default Yosemite came out today.

As it has done with the early Yosemite betas, which is nothing new. I however would expect official support for Yosemite within this year. It already works very well, the support release mustn't be too far ahead.

That said; there may be a Mavericks maintenance release coming in before Yosemite compatibility release. I can't even remember when 11.2.1 was released...

I know I know ...I just wanted to confirm that 10.10.1 didn't bring any new issue so far.

Searching forums and online for MBox Pro and Pro Tools 11 with Yosemite compatibility but have not found anything other than potential preset issues. Does anyone know of MBox driver or plug in updates that are required?

Thanks!

Steve
