///PT8 thru mac speakers

Can i play some PT sessions thru my imac speakers i don't have a pair of auratones and would like to a'b'c my mixes!!! i already use two pair of midfeilds but the all goes thru auratone mixes is the new norm now not that i would want to make mixes just for those people ::: i checked and can't find anything in PT i/o that could allow me to select my computers speakers of course toast and itunes does it::thanks

Also why does itunes transform the sound i am not getting a calibrated result between PT and itunes:::toast is perfectly calibrated and i did deactivated the equalizer and other artifact in itunes; i notice my levels drop compared to Pro tools even with maximum levels on the player!!! not a good reference some how colored for good or for bad i don't know but it obviously makes the files sound different and i am not a fan of that stuff plus it's the norm. wtf

You can only monitor the audio from protools via a Digi interface. So if you want to hear it on you iMac speakers, you need to patch the outputs on Digi interface to the line in on the iMac. Then you need to use a piece of software to route it from the line-in to the speakers (can't be done in Sound preferences)

Use LineIn from Rogue Amoeba:

Pro Tools will only output thru a DIGI interface. The only way to have it come back thru your computer speakers would be to feed the output of the Mbox(or whatever you have) back into the computer line input. Using a speaker selector is a much better setup(Samson C-Control, Mackie Big Knob or Presonus Central Station). As for iTunes, I kind of feel that it has no place in a studio setup. The calibration issue is only 1 reason. I think your method of using Toast to check mixes thru the computer speakers is the best choice without spending any money. Dang! flommer is quick today!

I have used the optical out of my Mac to feed my 002R. I needed to record the audio from an mpeg, but couldn't do it internally, or via software. Although I have not tried it, you may be able to go the other direction.
