Re: monitor question?
After some research and looking around for a bit, I bought a part of second hand NS-10M Studio. If you don't have much money like me, that's the method

Re: monitor question?
best monitors in the $500 range?
Alesis M1mk2 just my opinion, and they're on sale for $399/pair.

Re: monitor question?
Unless you are already a NS-10 mixer, stay away from them.
They are not as prominate as they use to be and are far from a standard anymore. Most places that still have them don't really use them it that they were already there. The M1 mkII was a good suggestion as long as your room isn't to funky. To me they tend to make things seem bass heavy in a poorly tuned room. What ever monitor you decide on will benefit from the correct usage of some Auralex.

Re: monitor question?
The Tannoy Proto J speakers are an excellent price for what you get. Just under $300 Canadian and are very good for the money.

Re: monitor question?
Compare the Yamaha MSP5's with the others in that price range before you buy.

Re: monitor question?
I myself have a pair of tannoy reveal monitors. The unpowered ones....and i love them..
They should be around $350 i guess. The also have powered reveals, and they should run around $800.
