elsastique aax is considerably better than x-form. elastique is bundled now in PT for use in Beat Detective, but to use it in TC/E you still need to buy - https://products.zplane.de/products/elastiqueaax/ . IIRC I bought it for about £125, and you get two licenses.

Elastic Audio.

Beat Detective doesn’t use time stretching.

X-Form is unusable as it takes forever to stretch or shift a few seconds worth of audio.

I went with Waves Sound Shifter. It's only $29 and its results on everything I've tried sound exactly the same as Pitch N Time in A/B tests to me.

I also tried ElastiqueAAX but that presented artifacts that I didn't hear in PnT and Sound Shifter.

IF PnT does go silicon, I'd of course go back to it. But until then, Sound Shifter is the best alternative I've found for time stretching and pitch shifting.

Don't underestimate Sound Shifter because it is Waves. I know it's hip to hate Waves right now. But it works great, but admittedly does not shift or stretch quite as far as PnT can.

Finally we live in a world where you basically need all 3 (Elastique, Sound Shifter and X-Form) so you can pick the right one for the specific task. Even booting back up in Rosetta just to use PnT, my old friend, is still an option right now. But I'm prepared for the day that is no longer an option, or worth the effort.

On a Mac Studio it's not long at all. Not "fast" but considering its task it's worth the effort. It seems to take twice as long as the length of the audio its processing, so 2 seconds of audio would take 4 seconds to process. Not long at all.

They earned it, and it started a loooong time ago, the ill will just happens to continue into the present.

Oops, thanks - quite right of course.

Waves' Sound shifter is also a good option and it is only 30 bucks usually (and has a real time plugin version too, which is great). But IIRC it is better at pitch shifting than time stretching.

Still no complete alternative. Really difficult to understand Serato here.

But I agree I'd want to have at least ElastiqueAAX and Sound Shifter on hand. I guess Melodyne has certain uses too.

In PT 2023.3 you've got élastique Pro V3.
Which is the gold standard for stretching, it's used by Cubase, Ableton and Reaper.
But don't forget to play with formants, if you pitch a lot.

Pitch n Time was the best and probably still would be. However, they took $699 from me for the plugin and then asked for another $99 upgrade fee and there is no news as to whether it would ever work on Apple Silicon.

I’ve been using X-form without any issues, apart from being quite slow.
