Default OMF 48k/44.1k problem

I've seen this problem come up in posts, but have not seen any definitive solutions. I imported an OMF in which the media files were 48k. When I open the session the length of the audio is about a minute shorter than the pix(i'm imported a QT movie) If i change the session to 44.1 the length seems to match the pix, but the audio obviously is slower. Is there any fix for this? Is it an error on the editors part when exporting the omf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using OMF 2.0.8

Best,
Andrew

I've had this problem when exporting from AVID Film Composer, version 7.2 and using OMF tool 2.0. Changing to 2.0.8 corrected the problem. Try different versions of OMF exports and different OMFTools. Not a great advice, but it works sometimes. Just remember that for a long time, the most stable and useful version of OMF tool was 1.12b !!!
Maybe a DigiTranslator could do the job?

I had the exact same problem on an OMF tranfer and we think that the Avid session was set at 44.1 but the audio had been digitized with the 48kHz switch ON on the audio interface. Or that the Avid was at 44.1 just before doing the transfer. We never discovered the source but another job from the same company with a different technician went fine.
