Default Using Nitris DX

Hi,

We are new to Protools at our company. We have a lot of Media Composer, Nexis etc. for editing, but now we want to make a Pro Tools suite.

Our problem is that we cannot get Pro Tools to see the attached Nitris DX box. As far as I have read it should be possible to use it for video and audio I/O. But in Playback Engine we only have these to chose between:

Input: None!

Output: Speakers (3- High Definition Audio Device) <- listed twice though.

Its a clean new install of Windows 10 where we installed Media Composer 2018.12.1 and Pro Tools 2018.12.0

We also installed the Nitris DX driver from the MC Utilities folder.

What am I missing? -it might be something basic as I'm new to Pro Tools.

Regards
Michael

Where have you read that the Nitris Dx can be used for audio with Pro Tools?

I just assumed it can use it for audio, as Nitris DX is supported for video playback.

To me it would seem strange if it didn't support audio as well when it is capable for both analogue and digital audio. But it wouldn't be the first time Avid did something like that.

So, it can't be used for audio?

I’ve never heard of it being used for audio. Video yes.

It’s worth a shot but if you have Media Composer running at the same time Pro Tools is running I’m willing to guess PT will not see it as an available interface.

The Omni is usually partnered as the audio interface with a Nitris, in my experience.

I would also check to make sure that Windows is not hijacking the Nitris as it's own audio playback engine. This will interfere with Pro Tools. But again, not even sure it will work.
