Default Digital Spike when pressing record

I recently switched from HD TDM to HDX and Pro Tools Ultimate 2020.3.
A very strange thing that is making my speaker membranes popping out every time I hit the record button...a full level digital spike...it is showing up on the little tiny output meter even though I have the master fader down.
Both with audio, midi and virtual instrument track.
Any ideas?

Haven't seen that on Catalina. Maybe your system needs a clean install to avoid random errors? PT is sometimes picky on the platform you are running it on

Still on Mojave and it is a clean install just two weeks old or so...
I have a lot of devices synced, yes, but the spike comes from Pro Tools itself and even though I have the Master fader down, the spike is visible in the tiny meters beside the transport window and popping out my ATC SCM25 monitor membranes.
I have ordered some thunderbolt cables so I can put the Magma Expressbox with the HDX-card on a dedicated thunderbolt-channel and hope that will solve the problem. It is really annoying actually.

Move *all* of your plugins to unused folder and try again. This is a quick way to test if it is plugin related.

Great tip. I may just make a stripped down session with one audiotrack and try?
Or why is it needed to move all my plugins?

Because any plugin that is present in plugin folder is loaded into memory when PT boots up

YES!
I am using Expert sleepers Silent Way and ES-3 to turn MIDI to CV, and it was the Silent Way Voice Controller plugin that gave me the digital spike.
I can just disable the plugin until I use it. It is part of my default setup.
