Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
Ok I get it now. So you would be limited to 32 io and can't use a sync hd. Got it.

Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
Actually 64
"DLI/DLS can stream up to 64 channels, which you can use for processing or I/Os—or both." You can also use your existing TDM plugs if you have em :) I would think you could still use a Sync HD, with PT setup for it, and in the Waves pref's, set source to external ?? Worst case, in standalone? I would have to look into this one. Even if you could, I'm not sure you'd want to or need to.... I'm betting on very solid clocks in the Waves hardware. AAAAAND, all the clocking is remote controlled anyway, just like with Sync HD, so what's the advantage of it? I doubt there is one. Here is a good read: http://www.waves.com/1lib/pdf/hardwa...dli-manual.pdf

Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
64 I/O with HD, 32 with Vanilla. Vanilla is limited to 32 with ANY hardware
Also, I'm still THINKING with HDN/HDX you could control a SyncHD, and set Waves units to external clock - tadda - eveything still works via Sync HD as you wanted it to.... Again, I have yet to confirm this, but I am betting you can. Even HDX users could benefit from it. A single DLS spanks the plugin instance capability of a single HDX at a fraction of the cost. For HDN Users it is even a sick deal, PTHD features, Offload DSP, - far cheaper than the upgrade path to DSP and more powerful Had Waves DLS been out, at the time I upgraded to HDN, I would most likely have gone Waves.... and next time I expand or upgrade, I will most likely be going there..... Just my $.02 Not trying to argue with you, it seems you obviously don't like it. So it's not for you. But for many of us, this is a great solution. You know, all these things in 'question' could be answered with probably a 5 minute phone call to Waves lol

Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
HD software supports unlimited i/o but the actual numbers depend on the hardware.
For example, HDN is 64 i/o max.

Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
Such a complicated product -
Sure - hook up and record low latency with WAVES (AVID i/o to DLS to Ethernet to Computer) - but now if you want to use someone else's plug in - BAM - 5 ms latency! (HDN was way less). So you go through HDN - now the DLS has 2X the buffer setting + A/D D/A + 0.8ms - Native Waves in HDN is lower latency. Now there are a ton of scenarios where DLS shines - but it can be very complicated. And like HDX - really works best if you only record with what runs on the DLS. Sadly the easiest integration is with HDX! But how many would do that.

In reality, if you want to use PT and waves plug ins it's better to just use the waves native AAX plug in in pro tools and buy a fast, modern computer. Attaching the waves server won't get you better latency or more plug ins. It's just another thing to upgrade in a year and limits the hell out of your PT system in any configuration.

Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
Waves have their own agenda now, they have completely 180-degreed on us. I won't be spending any money on their products anymore. Hopefully someone creates a C6 clone/killer and I will be a happy camper...

Re: Love em or Hate Waves finally puts DLS bundles on sale
On the bright side, they are selling single plugins at reasonable prices (especially if you watch the sales) I've gotten C6 for $75, L3 for $84, etc.. and just use the native versions.
