interesting, I was wondering if it was a problem with the full 8.0.3 installer, but if you just applied the upgrade installer it seems thats not the case.

Default Re: Quicktime jerky 8.0.3 RESOLVED somewhat.

Alright, I upgraded to SL. 10.6.2

Still had video stutters, BUT.......SL has new video settings!!!
I set the secondary monitors to the new setting types in SL of "480P" (using 720X480 DVCPro).
I set the quicktime window (in PT) to actual size, and the screen filled up completely. No stutter, no rescaling needed.

Good enough for now.

I think it's something to do with 1920x1080 video. Changing my monitor to 1280x720 and downsizing quicktimes made the choppiness stop.

I don't think that's exactly the issue:

I have a 1920x1200 monitor and a 1440x900 monitor
I'm using 720p 23.976 Photo-JPEG pix (med compression)
I have this problem no matter which monitor I use.
I have this issue on 10.5.7, 10.5.8 and 10.6.2
the pic plays fine in QT player.
none of the previously documented "jitter fixes" used up till 8.0.1cs1 makes any difference.

Same here on 10.5.5. Everything was fine before the upgrade. Now video, playback cursor, and scrub cursor is jerky. This is a very bad thing for checking sync. I'm gonna have to consider a downgrade tomorrow. Time poorly wasted.

Justin(maggot)- just for kicks, try knocking your 1920 monitor down to 720. I know it doesn't make that much sense, but it worked perfectly for me after switching down. Tolerable fix for the time being. And hey, QTs go to the correct monitor in 8.03 - it's not all bad!

Just to let everyone know - we're tracking this issue and it's unclear whether this is a Pro Tools or Apple problem (or both), but it's high priority and we're working with Apple on a resolution.

that is truly wonderful news, I had given up believing only my rig was affected after reading all the posts, so I was hoping to hear some news of a resolution forthcoming.

I have been experiencing a drop in Quicktime playback ability also. I use ProRes most of the time and can get full framerate if I drop it down to SD resolution. It's like the software update made my system weaker. I have a quad core early 2008 Mac Pro with a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card (that the HDMI output doesn't work on for sone reason).
