Default midi interfacing...

I've been using the Edirol UM1 EX USB-Midi converter to connect my MotorMix, once in a while I'll have a bad day of "pro tools has lost communication with motormix... etc" Sometimes I'll go weeks with no lost communication, but then there are days like today where every 5 minutes it kacks.

I've upgraded to the Mbox 2 Pro (from original Mbox) and I'm wondering if there would be any advantage/stability to using the Midi ports on it instead.

I'd just try it myself, but don't really want to go buy cables for something that may not help.

Does anyone have any similar experiences? It's not a big deal overall - I just got annoyed this morning, and realized I do have an alternative to how I've been connected...
