Default How good is the MBox, really?

Hi,

I'll make this short and sweet. I'm thinking about selling my setup (which includes a powermac g4 and digi001) for a simplified, more portable setup. Here's what I'm thinking of getting:

- powerbook g4 1.3ghz 12" model with maxed our RAM and 80gig HD
- MBox

Here's what I want to do:

- Basic music recording, i.e. guitar, vocals, etc. and sequencing/recording with Reason 2.5 which I currently own.
- Also some video editing using final cut express 2 doing mostly short films and documentaries.

Now my questions are...

How good is the MBox with handling latency from Reason? Can the powerbook handle my waves native powerpack plugins? Should I hold out for the G5 powerbooks?

Thanks,
matt

My friend just invested in this same setup, only he got the 17".

That's exactly what he does as well. No problems so far.

G5 Powerbooks - don't hold your breath, they won't be out for close to another year, if that. Latency with MBox/Reason is quite tolerable. Bottom line is if you're just recording one or two tracks at a time, you'll be fine.
