PT5 Digirack EQ & settings not opening in PT6

Has anyone here experienced a problem when opening an old (PT5) session on new HD rig where the Digirack EQ plug-ins either don't instantiate - or if they do, their original settings are lost ?

I seem to recall reading something about the architecture of the Digi EQ having been fundamentally changed from PT 5.x to PT 6.x so that settings from older sessions do not get carried forward when opened in PT 6.x.

It's proving to be a real problem as I open sessions created on older rigs. Any thoughts anyone?

Transferring Sessions with Plug-Ins from Older Versions of Pro Tools to Pro Tools 6.4
When importing data from sessions created in earlier versions of Pro Tools, any associated Plug-In Settings files are not imported.
You will need to copy the Plug-In Settings files manually (in the Finder).

My question now is... copy from what ? My old rig is gone and all I have is an HD rig with Pro Tools 6.x. Is there a way to open the session (or at least the affected) tracks in Classic using an older version of Pr Tools? Or even Pro Tools Free? Just need to access the tracks containing the non-updating plug-in info...

Or do I need to rent an older rig to access the info?
