Re: Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update Combo (new jan.6)
Well, I'm still running Mac OS 10.6.4 hence protools is still running good like it has for the past year and a half... does that count?

Re: Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update Combo (new jan.6)
All that matters is stability. Its a rare thing to come across in our business(especially with digi *cough*, i mean Avid......). the only reason i ever upgrade is for features or a fix to a problem i am personally having. if your still rockin', no need to change a thing. heck i know people still running 7.4.2 for that exact reason........
Side Note: Were there many other folks who encountered the DVI junk with ati 5700 video cards? 10.6.6 is a long time coming with that fix.....

Re: Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update Combo (new jan.6)
Well you know, I've never been satisfied with the level of stability in Protools 8. Once I got so frustrated, I started looking for an older mac, just so that I would be able to run 7.4. I mean when I said "...protools is still running good like it has for the past year and a half..." This is all relative to Protools and nothing else but protools. If I have to compare to Logic, or even Cubase, then there's no way I'm putting "running good" or "stable" in the same sentence with "Protools" unless if there's a 'not' or an 'un' somewhere. Does it have to be this way? Am I the only one getting corruption out of the 'playlists' feature after extensive use of the feature? or even ... ok I'll stop. I'll stay positive and will continue to make good sounding music with Protools. I hope in the future that there will be a very good stable (pun intended) reason to upgrade protools.

Does any one know how long (guesstimate) it takes for avid to approve OS X upgrades?

Honestly I think it depends on how many changes were made to the OS. The last update took them about 3-4 weeks I think. |
