What was the first computer Pro Tools (Sound Tools) run on.

Hallo All,

I'm doing some research for an historical project on DAW's. On wikipedia I found that "Sound tools" later to be rebranded as Pro Tools 1 was first released for an Apple computer.

My question is what system exactly was it.

Apple II
Apple IIgs

Macintosh II

Etc.

Macintosh II... 5 Nubus slot. Sound Tools is pre ProTools DAW. i still have Sound Desinger II manuel if u needed. as well as TuboSyn too.

i still have my "Atari" soundtools SDII system. around 1985-1986 i think

I bought Sound Tools 2 weeks after it was introduced, and bought a Mac IIx to put it in.

Been using PT ever since!

Sound Designer for the Emulator II worked with just my MacPlus (serial interface) in 1986
I also had a version of it for the Ensoniq Mirage.

This was at least a year or 2 before Sound Tools.

Good lord - I can't imagine how that would work. I used to run out of RAM after less than an hour's worth of programming (back when you could actually write line code). SoundTools wouldn't have been allowed to use many "tools" on this machine.

In 1988, my first system was Sound Tools 2 on a Mac IIci. At that time, I used a secondary program call Deck, that gave me a 4 track editor, and Opcode Studio Vision for Midi production. I've been a Pro Tools guy ever since.

My 1st digital system as well. My Mac IIci had and 80MB internal drive. Wow!
I also used a DAT-IO, eventually adding Samplecell II. What a great rig, all-in-all. Bought a 1GB hard drive for $1400 or something outrageous.

I think New England Digital was the first DAW with the Synclavier
