Default Upgrading to HDX, lots of options!

I am currently running a HD4 system in a Magma chassis, 10.3.8, OSX 10.8.5 on a 2010 6 core Mac Pro with 2 x Lynx Aurora16 and a 192 which I use just for an extra 8 outputs to the headphone system.

I just bought a HDX card and am wondering what is a good combination of OSX and Pro Tools? I am woefully out of touch, I set this system up a few years ago and haven't thought about it since!

I have a Pro Tools 10-12 HD license and will do a clean install so can put on any version of OSX. Is there a good combo someone has found on a 2010 Mac Pro?

Also what is the best way to wire the 3 interfaces. I currently have the 192 on the Core card and then the 2 x Lynx Aurora 16 on 2 of the 3 Accel cards. The HDX card only has 2 connectors so any advice on what order to run things, I understand I will have to run 1 of the interfaces from the secondary of another.

And finally any advice on what firmware for the Lynx Aurora.

Hi.

Many are thinking that older computers like 10.8.5 & 12.4 (pre cloud collab) the best. Whatever you do, avoid El Cap (10.11.x) at all cost.

I would connect both Lynx to the primary port and 192 to secondary, but it doesn't really matter. I have no idea about their firmware either, but I've heard one of the Lynx must be set to loop master (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I just dropped my new HDX card into my current install, I was running HD Native at the time

I didn’t even reinstall, but I was running PT12 on Windows

I would fully test your system with your current install.....10.8.5 was such a good OSX release.

I found 10.10 to be really good as well. But with PT10.3.7 still.

I moved to Windows when I switched to PT12

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I will go with Yosemite 10.10.5 as I have that in my home studio and it's been really solid.

As far as Pro Tools version, I'll try 12.4 first.
