Default Help - system fine at 128 sample HW buffer, tanks at 64

I have been reading threads on the DUC and elsewhere for weeks, but cannot resolve an issue. Taking one last shot before I surrender.

I have a powerful PC (i9-7900x, Asus TUFF Mark 2 MB, 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM, multiple SSDs and m.2 NVME drives) running Win 10 and the latest version of PT.

My interface is a Lynx aes16e with an Aurora 16 front-end.

I've done just every recommended tweak I can find (in BIOS and Windows), and have experimented with processor core affinities.

Bottom line is that on a session with no plugins, I can have as many audio tracks as I want recording/playing with a 128 sample buffer with very low processor utilization (5-10%).

As soon as I switch to 64 samples (the lowest available buffer for me), I get pops, a strange occasional flanging/phasing effect, CPU spikes, and high core utilization even with a relatively few number of tracks (still no plugins).

Very frustrating, as the issue doesn't likely have anything to do with the power of the hardware. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hmmmm...How about posting a Sandra report so we can see all the details of the hardware(want to see chipset, RAM settings, OS and graphics). also, how does the Lynx and Aurora 16 connect(to each other and to the PC)? It would seem that the system should be plenty powerful and FWIW, I run at 64 all day on my HDN system(see signature). The only thing that seems to require a higher buffer here is adding Ozone or Melodyne(both are serious system hogs).
