ProTools 7.4 with Windows 7? In compatibility mode?
Hey I am upgrading my mobo and processor on a system I'm going to keep 7.4sc10 running on. Do you think it will work if I use Windows 7 but run PT's in XPSP3 Compatibility mode? Or am I just asking for problems. I've been running XP Pro SP3 on this machine for a while and just really love how stable Windows 7 is.

Re: ProTools 7.4 with Windows 7? In compatibility mode?
I personally would not take a chance. My XP system is rock solid and have not had any issues for over a year of recordings.
According to Digi's website... Important: Windows 7 compatibility with Pro Tools HD, LE, and M-Powered 8.0.3 software is not fully tested or supported by Avid/Digidesign. (Windows 7 is fully supported with Pro Tools M-Powered Essential 8.0.3 software.) We recommend backing up your system and work files before using this software, or installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 on a different boot drive. In preliminary testing, we have found most plug-ins to be compatible with Pro Tools 8.0.3 and Windows 7. I would wait until the wrinkles are ironed out.

If it ain't broke.... don't fix it.
If XP and PT is working, and you don't need a Windows 7 version of MS Office, I really don't see any reason to upgrade the OS.

XP is still the OS of choice for PT.
