Default Its Official... Mountain Lion will be released tomorrow...

...but I'm gonna take a leap and say that Avid won't be qualifying it in the near future...

That's a pretty safe bet. Don't mean it won't work. I would never suggest blindly updating. But if you have the capabilities to do a proper back-up, I'm sure some would like to know how it goes. :)

I will be upgrading my hack to 10.7.4 this week. May try 10.8 on my MBP, if early reports are favorable. However I just updated it to lion a month or so ago. Lol.

Seriously, its only $20! I love the new operating systems. Always keep me happy. I'm a simple man : ). I just hate having to wait for Avid to keep up... But I hate Pro Tools bugs more! : )

Be very careful with this one. There are many perfectly good macs that Apple themselves have deliberately excluded from being able to install this version of OS X .... some only a few years old. Do a search.

..... never mind dealing with Pro Tools working on this OS.

I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm going to clone my MacBook Pro tomorrow and then dive in. My main DAW has been Logic as of late and I have Pro Tools on my Mac Pro, so I'll dive in.

If you are interested in knowing if your software will work, here's a good database:

Systems that have 32-bit EFI or 32-bit processors are bounced from upgrading. There are also some minimum graphic requirements (which is why the MacBook 4,1 is out, too).

Can't wait for tomorrow and all the DUC idiots who complain that Mountain Lion and Pro Tools don't work together and now they can't finish a session... Always makes for entertaining reading.

This time, I'm avoiding ML until PT is qualified with a version - so I'm shooting for November.

A few years old? 4.5 years is not young for a computer. I wouldn't want to put ML on my old Macbook anyway.

Also, it has quite specifically to do with the fact that 10.8 is 64 bit only. It has no 32 bit EFI which makes it more efficient. Windows 8 will also not be supported on 32 bit EFI chipsets. It's not some Apple conspiracy...
