Default ExpressBox 1/2

What are the current thoughts on the ExpressBox 1 and 2? I'm about to go travelling for a few months, and it seems that instead of getting an MBox I may as well just get a ExpressBox 1 (I have a "portable" Trak2 that interfaces directly with HD).

The ExpressBox 2 looks good (in that I don't lose an Accel card) but it's pretty expensive compared to the 1 - extra $1200 for an additional slot.

My laptop is a 2008 MBP.

I think Magma might have a return policy - give it a try and report back

FWIW, I have a 4 slot PCI chassis with MBP, HD2 and an Aurora16 interface. It travels all over the world with me, and fits in the overhead bin.

I've ordered an ExpressBox 1 so we'll see (expensive shipping! FedEx only). A pity to leave one HD card behind but the ExpressBox 2 is way too expensive (could buy a second-hand Mac for that price).

With the Trak2 I don't know if it'll fit in carry-on luggage but we'll see. BTW, any suggestions on 2U rack cases for travelling?

Yep, it works. No problems so far. A little noisy (even with the thermistor) but quite acceptable.
