getting started

I am using

pentiun III 500mhz
Windows 98 2nd edition
bxmaster motherboard
sb live value
256 mb ram

I downloaded pro tools free.
I can launch the program but when I try to open a new session nothing happens. I try to give a new session a file name and save. but it will not save. I tried to follow the windows config instructions but I dont have a dma option under within my hard drives properties. please help!
