Ok, well, this morning, as me and bio were doing our Daily hello/goodbye AIM chatting, I stumbled onto the Nation Famous Los Angeles Based KROQ 106.7 radio station website. I was looking at the 106.7 best bands of all time list voted by the listener/viewers. I will paste the list now, and would like to know who you think DOES not belong, and who should have made the list:

2. Sublime?? What were they thinking. No, Doubt? System of a Down? ok.. this will take too long, but ill say maybe 30 of those bands belong on that list. Im surprised Aerosmith didnt make it(bummer bio).

I was pleased to see Bjork, Nine inch Nails, The Cure, Tori Amos, Oingo Boingo, Live, Depeche Mode, and A Perfect Circles placements....Weezer at 26?? they should have been somewhere near 400...thousand.

Anyone else want to make a Captain Rant?

That's pretty much disgraceful. I'm wondering how many people at KROQ (especially the "oldtimers") are just shaking their heads and muttering curses about today's generation under their breath...or maybe that's yesterday's generation. Boy am I out-of-date.

I'll be the first to admit that I have recordings of at leaswt 2/3s of the bands on this list. Still, I would not have nominated most of them for this list.

"Best bands of ALL TIME"? Doesn't that mean that no other bands have accomplished what these have? No other bands have been so influential? Hoobastank? Come on! Papa Roach? [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

What a great thread. I'm sure it will spark a few good debates. Were there any qualifiers to make this list, or is it simply the best bands ever? The reason I ask is that I only see one or two names from over 20 years ago. Anyway here's my two cents.

I WAS glad to see:
Tool
Deftones
Everlast/House Of Pain
Cypruss Hill
A Perfect Circle

All quality acts that often get under-played by radio and almost alwys by MTV.

I WAS NOT glad to see:
Limp Bizkit
Jimmy Eat World
Green Day
Creed
Blink 182
Everclear
New Found Glory
Papa Roach
Third Eye Blind
Hoobastank
Kid Rock

Convince me that there is one ounce of talent on this list (with the possible exception of Wes Borland) and I'll apoligize.

I'm also disturbed by that fact the following were left out:
Tom Petty
Led Zeppelin
Aerosmith
A Tribe Called Quest
The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix
The Doors

Not that I'm the biggest classic rock fan ever, but c'mon. This list was obviously voted on by a very specific demographic. I'm curious to see what everyone else has to say about it.

Also would have liked to see Aphex Twin, Psychedelic Furs, The Fixx, and AHA(but its understandable why at least 2 of those didnt make the list).

some of those groups I like. Some I think really SUCK. I think I will withold my opinion this time. I hate "top 1xx" type countdown lists. They never agree with me.
Hell, they never pick my favorite vieos on Americas Funniest home Videos, the shmucks.

I hate to sound like an old fart, but this is pretty much what you get when you ask people who were in kindergarten 10 years ago to list the greatest bands of all time.

Remember, this is a 106.7 listener poll. It's a lot like asking a room full of psychotics who Napoleon was, and half of 'em stand up, saying, "Me"!

The people who responded to the poll have the cultural depth of mononuclear acid, and a life experience of probably 12 years, so what do you expect?

It's only by virtue of their ability to weasel millions of dollars from their parents that they have any significance whatsoever to the radio Ho's, er, programmers.

Empty-Vee has done more to destroy what I thought of as music than the Chinese Ministry Of Art has done in it's entire existence!
