Yes I can confirm this maneuver. However, it doesnt work for the ProTools install. Even if it did, the driver for the digi pci card DOES NOT install in XP anyway.

I was doing a search for something else, and this thread came up... I thought it was neat...a little nostalgia for us all.

At this time, i don't know that I had ever used a windows machine for anything more then browsing the internet.

Look how far we've come !

That's a hoot...
Getting XP support was a major source of topic's for quite a while.
Not quite as big as getting T-bird support though, as I recall.
Of course, breaking free of 24 tracks was a big deal, too.
Yes, we have come a long way.

Ha ! - Hey, welcome back to this thread, I see you were a part of it "Back in the day" I'm sure this thread doesn't cause any of the stress it did, when all y'all were reading through the first time, and contributing.

I wasn't convinced I even needed XP.
I was running a lean version of Win 98Lite with a P3 800, and getting 13 solid tracks on the DaveC.
How could it get any better than that?

Hey Kingfish and JMS...
One day, we may be riding around in our flying saucers equipped with PT999.4, looking at old threads from 2004, and laughing about how primitive we were. '...and we thought having TDM was a big deal...hahahahaha!'

Ahhh yes, and the MP3 codec will still be busted. A pretty girl will smile at me, and I'll give her all my stuff.
