Re: Apogee AD16X and HDX compatibility announced
According to an Apogee support person I talked to, the new X-HD firmware is also supposed to offer support for the Avid HD Native pcie card. That would be really good news. I've not seen this officially stated on any Apogee literature. I take the quote from their support person with a grain of salt. However if true this would be welcome news for the legions of AD-16X/DA-16X owners looking for a path forward that does not include buying new converters.
I like my Apogee converters just fine. I don't currently like my options for staying supported with Avid software and hardware. If I had HDX and HD Native support with a new Apogee X-HD firmware release I'd be very happy. |

Re: Apogee AD16X and HDX compatibility announced
Someone from Apogee confirmed for me yesterday that the next SymI/O update will cause the Symphony I/O to appear as an HD I/O in Pro Tools (and match the HD I/O latency compensation), ensuring compatibility with HDX (and presumably PT11).
He also mentioned they're planning a similar update for X-HD cards, so that legacy devices (Rosetta 800 etc) will also appear as HD I/O's. Hope that helps! |

Re: Apogee AD16X and HDX compatibility announced
Here's a link to an Apogee page where they're showing a bunch of stuff that has come out at the current NAMM show. Amongst the items: a new module for the Symphony I/O and an update for the Symphony software (os 4.2) that has support for Lion and big fixes when using the Symphony on an HD Native card. Right now it's just a preview with release for 2nd. quarter 2012 so that's anywheres from April to June.

Re: Apogee AD16X and HDX compatibility announced
this is customer-service! so a legacy product will work for many more years. i´ll upgrade my ad16x to symphony io anyway, but now with an even better feeling going symphony io and not hd io...

An other question:
Do the Apogee AD/DA-16X work with Pro Tools HD 10 with Accel PCIe Cards? (not with HDX-Cards) best regards gandlz |
