Default mbox sound playback degredading over time...

I ran into an issue today with a friends mbox.

Playback in pro tools would sound garbled and scratchy. If you unplugged the USB cable and plugged it in after a few seconds.. playback would be fine for a while but if you started turning the knob so you can monitor the input from pro tools.. you would start hearing digital noise coming out of pro tools.

i'm thinking maybe this might be a system optimization thing? i tested his mbox on my laptop and it seemed to work fine.. this was before i had tried twisting that knob and saw the sound degredation.

i turned off the power management for usb in the device manager, but i'm not sure what else i can do ? if anybody can help, your help is definately appreciated thanks in advance!

you need to install Windows XP Service Pack 1. it is available as a free download from Microsoft. Alternatively, you can order it on CD for a nominal fee.

it contains many enhancements and fixes for USB audio, including the problem you are experiencing.
