Default HDX audio interface power problem?

Hi, we are in the process of setting up a new HDX protools ver10+ and an Avid HD interface in a Mac Pro, but we keep having the error message below - and wondered if the hardware card or interface is faulty?

error message when trying to choose the HDX as playback device:
"Unable to find an audio interface attached to the first HDX card. Please check power and digilink cables"

So far we have tried the following things without success:
1. Changed the cable from mac to interface
2. removed and reseated the card. We have tried various slots in the mac pro - it is now in the uppermost slot.
3. trashed preferences and restarted
4. I believe we have also tried all the power connections on the card to the motherboard?
5. PT software has been updated to current ver.

Our supplier has suggested that the HDX audio interface might need a firmware update - but I can not find a firmware update in the downloads section for a HDX ver10? It seems to suggest all hardware drivers are installed as part of the PT10 install?

Any other suggestions greatly received...?

Run the Digitest (Volume off) app in your Avid Pro Tools application folder (Pro Tools Utilities).
This will show firmware and allow updating if needed. (Other first install or troubleshooting tests as well).
