Default Imported wav sounds poor

Hello,

I have a wav file, I open it in either audacity or just play it in MS media player and it sounds great, If I import it to Pro Tools 12 (same thing on previous versions) it looses a lot of it's quality and volume at 0, I am not using any plugins,

If I then bounce to disk it sounds just as poor as when it's in Pro Tools.

I'm and running at 44.1khz

Any suggestions or is that just how it is?

Thanks
Jim

Way more information is needed here. System specs? Bit depth? etc...How are you importing into protools?

Please only post in one spot, not that I haven't done it, but it usually garners a better result; or gets moved by the mods

System
windows 8 (does Pro Tools work well in windows 10?, I'll do the upgrade)
Pro Tool 12.2.1
i7 4.Ghz
16 Gb of memory
SSD for the OS and pro tools App
SSD for Pro Tools recoding files

Bit depth 24

I do file>import>audio

It's a 38k .wav file

38k is the sample rate or the file size?
I recommend upgrading to 12.3.1, not 12.4
What soundcard?

Do you have the Behringer selected as the audio device under 'playback engine'?

have you tried recording audio and seeing if you get the same result?

Have you tried importing a different file?

As far as I know, W10 is NOT qualified for protools. And from what I've seen, most are having better success with W7. I'm not a windows guy for audio anymore, so not much help there.

I tried it again today, I think what i was doing wrong had to do with a stereo file vs a mono file.

So playing it through audacity, media player or Pro tools it all sounds the same.

Thanks for getting me in the right direction by trying different files, ETC.

Jim
