having to restart pc to hear audio

hey i'm new to this software, got sick of reaper...am running windows 8.1 on pt 11 and every time I close a session and open a new one I can't hear the audio, I have to restart my pc then it works again etc...lame, any help would be rad, thanks!!!

Could you give LESS info I'm going to hazard a guess that you are allowing Windows AND Pro Tools to use the same audio output(interface)? Set Windows to use the onboard sound card and NOT the interface you record with, so you never have any hardware conflicts(which I think is what's happening)

I'm on Windows 8.1 and mines does this from time to time. I'll have to exit and reopen or restart pc. This started with my 12.4 upgrade
