I run my dual core system set to 2 processors all the time. I believe that it is only on the quad and 8 core setups where they recommend leaving 1-2 cpu's alone.

I have dual core, as well, and was recently notice more overall stability when using certain VI if I decrease to 1 CPU(I've followed advice by DigiTechSupt to the user in some other thread).

Follow Denka's advice as I don't use much in the way of VI's(only ezdrummer).
