Default Embed audio into the video stream

Hi all,

I'm working with an AJA IO box as my output for video with Pro Tools. I'm wondering, is there a way to embed my audio mix into the SDI or HDMI stream coming out of my AJA IO4K box when monitoring video output?

You can get an inline embedder to do this. Not cheap though.

We have been using the Stellar Labs HDMI 7.1 Audio Inserter (Model 33-11680) for a few years now without any problems. We bought ours from MCM Electronics. It looks like it is going for $39.99 right now.

Jonathan,

I noticed on the box that it only does

TOSLINK audio format: LPCM 2CH, Dolby Digital 2~5.1, DTS 2~5.1

But the HDMI does: HDMI audio format: LPCM 2/5.1/7.1, Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio

So basically, if you are coming out of an Avid Omni using the toslink connector and going into the toslink IN of the box you can only use a PCM 2CH signal...you can't do a discrete 5.1 PCM or 7.1 PCM signal. You'd have to use a dolby digital encoder for surround right?

I think you are correct. It looks like you can't send more than two channels discretely over the Toslink, but you would be able to send an encoded multichannel bitstream. Truthfully, we have only really used the 3.5mm input to send our stereo mix to the television for alternate monitoring.
