Default Re: Hackintosh - Salvage your HD PCI cards - You Can Do It Too!

Hi

I have installed Lion bu using iAtkos L2. My config is:

Gigabyte P55-UD3R F2 mobo
Core(TM) i5 CPU 750
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
16 GB RAM

It works fine other than the graphics card and HD Native. It took about 30 minutes for PT 10HD to open. And then hangs up. Is there anyone using HD Native in hackintosh successfully? What do I need to do to get it work?

Also I would appreciate any help how to make the graphics card work.

Got HDN running on a Gigabyte x79-board. No tweaks necessary

On lion you only have certain cards that will work - you should spend Considerable time investigating what will work with each different operating system version that you want to go to

And if the 9800 card will not work on lion it's easier just to get another card

As much as I liked the iAtkos builds, the TonyMac method has giving me the best results.

That 9800 GT should be working. Seriously consider using a vanilla install.

Here is a link to where they successfully installed Mountain Lion on the same motherboard and your 9800 will should work. You should install Mountain Lion since 11 will only work on Mountain Lion.

You are correct I will check it out.

Thanks for al the replies. For the record I used something called 'nvenabler+tools' and the graphics interface worked. And HD native worked perfectly too.

Right! That is built into multibeast! Not many graphics cards have complete native support. I use graphics enabler as well. Both methods work fine.

Hi Jeremy

I'm finally getting my act together to build this machine and pretty much copying your rig exactly. Just three quick questions.

Did you manage to install an eSATA card and was it using the PCIe slot? What model was it and what about compatibility in OSX and PTHD 10?

Also I will need to use Firewire 400 to run picture from PT through a canopus to a third screen. Is this something you are doing or anyone else following this thread? Any issues with the firewire 400 in PT 10?

What about your keyboard and mouse? Are you using an apple keyboard and mouse... wired or wireless?

Thanks

I have hackintosh 10.8.3 with i5-3570K, GA-Z77-DS3L, currently using onboard video with two monitors. Both the DVI and HDMI works great. I had a GT660 working great on this build until I added too many HDDs which was sucking all the power up. So I took out the GT660 and it works fine with 10 hdds and 2 PCIe Sata3 cards.

I have Win 7 install on the mSata card but I haven't used it in a few months. Not one single issues whatsoever and Pro Tools 10 run great on it.

BTW buy Mountain Lion and don't use these other so called builds. They hurt the OS more than they do help it.
