Default Hardware Transport Control Suggestion

I have grown up in the age where using a mouse to move faders is not a bother. I have looked around for years for a controller that fits the simple needs I would benefit from in a transport controler. I have looked into building one based off an arduino but my knowledge of electronics and coding makes this an utterly daunting task. Here is what I am suggesting :

A company either Avid or other should make a control surface with :

A jog wheel
-to scroll left and right through your session
-Also through mixer window

Transport Controls
-start
-stop
-play
-pause
-record enable (for the session as a whole not a specific track)

Arrow Keys :
For moving up and down through tracks
with a few soft keys for record arm and solo and mute for the selected track

Another other suggestion would be welcomed!

Here is what I do not want :
I have no interest in faders or motorized faders. I simply wouldn't use them. I dont need to be able to pan and adjust parameters of inserts with the controller. The idea of this controller is simply to limited the amount of times I reach for my mouse to do simple tasks which I carry out multiple times in each session.

I know some will say to just but a controller that has most of these features and ignore the faders, but most mid range surfaces that suit some of these criteria do not have the jog wheel. The jog wheel is one of the biggest components I want in a control surface.

I am not sure if anything like this will ever see the light of production, I am simply seeking any other individuals who would be interested in a product like this to chime in and maybe get some buzz going within manufacturers to consider coming out with something like this. The closest visual I can give to go along with what I am talking about is to look at the Korg nanoKONTROL studio and the left section (apart from the faders).

Let me know any thoughts yall have!

-Cheers

I still use a Command 8 - just for the transport and faders.

Someone should make a 16 or 24 channel control surface like Tascam used to. Seems like it would be a hit.

An absolutely great idea, as long as they put an LED scribble strip on it Artist Transport really seems to tick all the boxes for the OP

I seem to remember reading somewhere that two or three Artist Mix units can be physically attached to each other to make a 16 or 24 fader strip.

I've never used one so I don't know how good they are (or aren't), but that would seem to satisfy the stated criterion.

Yup Artist transport. For sure, great build quality too, better than the jog wheel you got with the Digi 003. I liken it to having been 'cut out' of an icon desk, in terms of feel and quality.
