Cannot successfuly setup midi in pro tools

I have a Roland XP50 connected to a USB midisport 2x2. I believe I have set it up correctly in OMS but when I try to record in protools via midi I cannot. I have checked my enabled inputs and passed the test in OMS but still nothing. Any help for a simple configuration to get this working would be most appreciated.

Maybe there is not enough information in your post.
In Mix window, MIDI track, under input and output you should see Midisport as an option.
This will let you know if OMS is set up correctly.
Select MIDI channels etc.
Other than that go through the manual step by step.

do not forget to enable midi clock, attach a midi cable from MidiOut (1 or whatever number it is), add the xp50 to the current session Midi patchbay, match channels. Also, at the Xp, put it into slave clock.
I do this all the time with a Xp80, no hassles.
