Need Tips - Making Synth Strings Sound Real
Howdy,
I've got some material I'm mixing for a gentleman and there are several tracks (mono & stereo) of synth strings (Korg M1 and Ensoniq SD-1). Both of these are classic keyboards, but the sound quality is far from realistic. Any ideas on how I can make these things sound a little more organic? Thanks, rockrev

Re: Need Tips - Making Synth Strings Sound Real
It depends on what kind of string sounds you're working with. If you're wanting the genuine plucking sound of a violin, or just a simple pad, there's no one right way to do it. You'd have to mess around with the envelope attack a little to determine what kind of sound you're going for. Then you can always add a light hall, or chamber reverb to make it sound bigger and more dramatic. It just really depends on what you're going for really.
